While recently travelling in Canada, I came across the Whole30® program. My sister and brother in law had just completed the 30 days and they commented on how good they were feeling and how much more aware they were of how foods effected them. I initially didn't pay that mush attention to the program because I really don't like "diets". A lot of time when people go on restrictive diets, the bounce back afterwards is almost worse than where they were to start. However, then they talked to me about how they felt it gave them the opportunity to reset not only their bodies, but their behaviours around eating, meal planning, shopping and their attachment to food. They also talked about how the program focuses on the reintroduction of foods, and making sure you take careful note of how you are feeling with the reintroduction of food groups. This I thought was worth investigating. It made me wonder if what I am eating is the best foods for me? I am very very healthy with my meals, but, I often experience energy slumps. I wondered if this could be changed with a different way of eating. So my curiosity go the better of me and my partner and I decided that it's time to give it a go!! I have an absolute LOVE for goats cheese and don't go a day without it........so that is basically going to suck not eating it. But nothing in life is gained without a bit of pain and hard work. I have never ever restricted grains from my diet part from gluten containing grains, so I am really keen to see what happens when I do.
Dr Jane has jumped at the opportunity to join me in this challenge and we invite you to join also. We will all suffer and succeed together. Through the group challenge we will have a private Facebook group where everyone can share ideas, recipes and ask questions. I will also host a weekly online meeting to keep you motivated, focused and on track.
Check out the Whole30® website for all the details on the program and click on this link for details on joining the group. What are you waiting for? We would love to have you join us!
